The Romance Slam Jam was three days of fun, friendship, knowledge, and inspiration. It was so great to finally meet face to face so many readers and authors I have been talking with on the internet for years. I hadn’t seen my friend virtuoso author Beverly Jenkins in so long, and busy as she was, being sought after by literally everybody, we had a few semi-private moments to chat.
I met and had lunch twice with Emma Rodgers, one of the founders of the RSJ, who is truly a joy and an inspiration.
Some of my readers had me near tears. There were readers who brought their copies of my books, which they had owned many years, for me to sign. One reader recalled minute connections between my books that I thought no one would remember but me! I have a list of books written by author colleagues that is as long as my arm; I can’t wait to binge read them as soon as I finish the book I’m writing!
We really threw down Friday night on the Detroit Princess Riverboat dinner cruise. And the DJ started us off on a Prince tribute that was off the chain!
I could probably write a novel about the experiences of the RSJ and still miss something! Suffice to say it was one of the greatest experiences I have had as an author, and my intention is to make it to next year’s RSJ (in California) and every one thereafter! Cheers to everyone at the RSJ for making it such a special event—with a very loving shout out to my readers. I would not be an author without you. Thank you.
