My latest eBook, FANTASY was my fifth novel.  By that point I had received quite a bit of reader feedback via letters and emails, and in person at book signings, as to the things readers wanted to see.

FANTASY addressed the three reader “wish list” items I heard most frequently:

1. The heroine is a beautiful PLUS SIZE woman.

This was the number one request.  Many readers wanted to see a full-figured woman as the heroine in a romance novel.  FANTASY has the beautiful, confident, and talented plus size Sameerah.  Although queen sized, Sameerah takes good care of herself and is an advocate of nutritious eating and exercise.  Sameerah’s firm hour-glass figure is admired by numerous gentlemen aboard the FANTASY cruise ship, none more so than the hero, Tony, who tells her, “Baby, I love it!”

[BTW my short novel, ALL THE WAY HOME, also features a plus size heroine—who is a grandmother.]

2. FANTASY contains the HOTTEST love scene I have ever written.

Some readers wanted to see more spice in my books, and with FANTASY I let myself go.   In each successive book my love scenes have gotten spicier and spicier.  But FANTASY contains the most detailed and graphic love scene I have ever written.  In fact, I do NOT recommend FANTASY for anyone under eighteen.

3. Readers wanted to see a main character who did NOT have it made financially.

As my readers know, my books center around people in the media: singers, actors, comedians, TV personalities and more.  If you are in the media and are successful, odds are you, as my hero, Darryl, diplomatically puts it in ALL FOR LOVE, “have a few bucks.”

The lovely Sameerah in FANTASY is a media triple threat: a singer, pianist, and song writer.  But Sameerah was orphaned as a teenager, and has since been on her own, struggling to have her talents discovered.   She has been supporting herself by background singing, and by spotty royalties from TV and radio jingles.  She doesn’t even have a car, and can’t afford cable TV.  The FANTASY cruise presents her with her first real opportunity to have her talents acknowledged.  Little does she know the cruise will offer her so much more—her first real opportunity for love.
