“I knew I had put on a few pounds, but nothing prepared me for when I stepped on the scale at the doctor’s office. I’d done biometrics testing at work three months prior to my doctor’s visit that included measuring my weight. No biggy. I could use a few pounds so I stepped on the scale with confidence just as I always did. I had a doctor’s appointment because I thought my head would explode!

I’m serious. I was in so much pain it hurt to breath. Then there was my energy level. I had none. Looking back, I don’t know how I made it through the workday. So back to the scale. When I first saw I’d gained thirty pounds in three months, I said, “That’s a lying scale!” The nurse aid was so sweet. She said something like, “You’ve gained a little since your last visit I see.”  A little? Yeah right. So not only was my head going to explode, so was my body. Great. To make a long story short, I have a thyroid issue.”

 Authors often times take elements of their lives and incorporate them into their novels.  In the fourth title of my Write Brothers series, it’s baby brother Tyler’s turn to find true love. He’s the ultimate player, so I decided to make his “one” a heroine who doesn’t fit the traditional romance model. She has a thyroid issue and has gained thirty pounds in a few months. He attracted to her, but she refuses to sleep with him.

I enjoyed writing this novel. Okay, I enjoy writing them all, but there’s something special about this one. Eva and Tyler, the two main characters, are the underdog of both of their families and are tired of living their lives to meet others’ expectations. I hope you give the last book in the Write Brothers series, TEASE, a try.
